Yep it's legal (thank goodness).

Many of us old times still like to get PDCs (post dated cheques) for the year because it means we are in control of cashing them and the renter doesn't have to do anything (and can't make excuses for not paying ;) )
I like that, i guess the other side of the argument would be that once you are done with all PDCs (granted a year of no trouble goes by), you are out of any guarantees whereas a guarantor is on the lease documents for as long as they are renting from you.

Might try to go for both, PDCs & Guarantor, hopefully its not too much
I want it all.

It's not too much for my properties.
