And unlike the LTB, they have a chance of getting their $ back. And, it is impractical for them to run a credit check (hence the need for the SIN) for every single guest who checks in.

Now, landlords can't FORCE a prospective tenant to give their SIN. The prospective tenant has the right to say NO. And the landlord has the right to say NEXT.
