DAY 2: We Continue To Block The Eviction!

#1 Unread post by FighterLady » September 22nd, 2020, 1:09 pm

Yesterday, tenants and their supporters successfully blocked the sheriff from entering Goodwood Park and enforcing the eviction of one of their neighbours.

Struggling tenants in Goodwood Park have been threatened with N4 eviction notices during COVID-19. The Goodwood Tenants Union has reached out many times to negotiate no evictions and a fair deal with their landlord, Ranee Management.

For months, tenants across Toronto have been saying that they will not stand for evictions during this global pandemic. Today, join us phone zapping the Sheriff's Office and Ranee Management to demand that they stop enforcing and pursuing evictions during a global pandemic.

*******SCRIPT*******

CALL THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE
416-327-5925

Tenants let the City of Toronto and the province know in front of John Tory’s condo that there should be no evictions during COVID-19. No one should go homeless in the midst of a global pandemic, and as Goodwood Park demonstrated yesterday, tenants will not allow evictions to take place in our neighbourhoods.

We demand that the Sheriff’s Office stop enforcing all evictions during these uncertain and dangerous times. Tenants are organized and are prepared to defend one another. If sheriffs show up in our neighbourhoods, there will be resistance. Stop the eviction in 108 Goodwood Park. Stop all evictions.

CALL RANEE MANAGEMENT
416-756-3962 ext. 220, and ext. 234.

I am calling today to demand that you call off the eviction of a tenant at 108 Goodwood Park and re-establish her tenancy. I also insist that you collectively negotiate with tenants of Goodwood Park and commit to no evictions during a global pandemic.

Yesterday, Goodwood tenants demonstrated that they are organized and are prepared to defend and fight for one another. It is in all parties’ interests for you to drop the eviction and collectively negotiate with tenants now.
