I have been encouraged by those who have helped in my quest to financially survive and get back to school.
Saving up for paying for tuition and for my dormitory need to take priority over wasteful spending on rent for a crap hole that is overpriced and doesn't even include cable tv or free internet. Thank you so much to Danmac, Geordie, Vic, Sneaky, Evicted, Satanist and others.
This forum feels like a family where we all help and protect each other. Thank you and lots of love to other tenants here.
I told my landlady I might move out but it was just a suggestion
Here is what happened and if this helps others, great.
My landlady come over and pounded on the door and yelled "you said you would be gone!!!!" I told her I never said that, I said I would "consider leaving" but never confirmed that with any Landlord and Tenant Board documents.
She then blathered on with her withered face turning red saying she had someone to move in and I needed to get out now or she would throw me out.
I would have moved expect my being on this forum my rights as a TENANT were explained to me!
Landlords can't just "kick you out" with no legal backing!
I then called 911.
The police came very quickly and took the raging bull to the backyard while one Officer spoke with me and wanted me to explain what happened.
I informed the Officer I was an excellent tenant and was thinking of moving out but never confirmed that.
I explained I never signed an N11 which was the legal way in Ontario to move out.
Thanks to the advice of Sneaky and others I had a blank copy of the N11 ready and showed it to him.
I explained this was a contract dispute and a civil matter and the landlord was attempting to bully me and harass me. The Officer was already slightly aware of the rules and after I educated him he said "you don't have to go anywhere."
The landlord was escorted a way ad after about 30 minutes the Officer came with another Officer and informed me she was warned not to bother me and if she did this again they would consider charging her.
Overall it was a good experience and shows that what the experts here have said really does apply.
Tenants if you feel threatened call 911 and let police deal with crazy as* landlords who don't follow the law! As a tenant any issues are "civil law" and not "criminal law". But if your landlord wants to harass you it is criminal
Some Tenants Think I Let My Landlord Off The Hook
The only real criticism I faced was not charging the landlord for assault and trespassing.
But if this slum-lord faces me again I will make sure she gets a nice sweet taste of the PRISON LIFE.
