When the pandemic began Premier Ford only wanted to help.
His message of don't pay rent if you need money to pay for food, medicine, etc. was a message not only done in Ontario. Leaders across Canada and across the world also said the same thing. Premier Ford was part of a massive group of political leaders who took action to try to save the economy, save people, and also save lives.
So Ontario copied BC, Quebec, NY State, California, Germany, England, Italy, Spain.
Premier Ford made the right move, the same as the leading Western governments.
It wasn't "Oh it's only Ford! Ford bad!"
Corporate Landlords Acted As Professionals.
In Ontario the corporate landlords understood this and respected Premier Ford's decision. As highly educated professionals (many with an MBA and everyone with at least a BA (Hons) these worldly business professionals worked with the Ford government while the LTB was closed and came up with Bill 184. They understood the challenges Premier Ford faced and teamed up to find the best, most reasonable solutions (such as Bill 184) for when the emergency situation subsided and the LTB re-open. SMART!
And what did the small landlords do?
Most also understood the dire situation Premier Ford faced and provided polite and helpful comments and advice to Premier Ford and his team. This included the many submissions from the Ontario Landlords Association.
Undedicated Redneck Mom and Poppers Attack!
Then came some social media idiots in rural areas threatening Premier Ford and demanding "CALL ME NOW" and even threats and insults. This was viewed and noted by the provincial gov't.
Then came the embarrassing protests in the summer and later in the Fall. Thinking they were clever they made sure they had a Black woman leading the charge with the bull horn
These rogue landlords and their redneck followers have made sure they will never have a say about making positive changes for landlords in Ontario.
You set us all back 10 years, clowns.
Now instead of being viewed as victims of a bad system and hard working professionals we are back to being seen as rotten people who can't get real jobs and just want to suck off tenants at all costs. GOOD WORK!
And it might just lead to investigations into potential mortgage fraud.
We now have even more "one person" shows making fools of themselves in the media implying things like rent is more important than helping someone not die! All great news for the NDP, the Liberals and the tenant groups. The Ford government views small landlords now as far-right morons who are radioactive! Of course they will distance themselves from us now. GREAT WORK!
