Let's Talk About Lease Clauses (For Ontario Landlords and the Standard Lease)

#1 Unread post by Veteran » July 9th, 2018, 9:55 pm

So after 35 years of being a landlord this was my first time using the "government standard lease."

First of all the government lease is a joke and I hope Premier Ford gets rid of it. It's 13 pages telling renters they have all these rights and if there are any problems don't talk to your landlord go directly to Landlord and Tenant Board for help LOL!

The problem is when in Rome...so I have to use this lease for new tenants moving in. The good thing is because of landlord groups like the OLA we get a little tiny window to protect our rental properties.

It's a pain I have to write out a whole new bunch of pages instead of putting it "in my lease" like before but I'm doing this over the next couple days because my lease signing is Friday.

Anyone need any help let me know because I'm typing this out as you are reading now.
